Scotty Presents : Cocktail Party 2013 - Why Host Such An Event?

As the organiser of both Scotty Presents : Spring Ball 2012 and Scotty Presents : Cocktail Party 2013 I realised that a major reason that people go to church is not only to grow in their relationship with the Lord, but also to build community through social interaction. There are so many cool people scattered around different churches in Wellington, but often people stay in their cliques within their churches. This in some ways is necessary, but in other ways this makes me sad because I have a heart for connecting people. As a leader of a Connections team at The Street City Church, I hate hearing stories of people who come to church without knowing anyone and then leave without anyone speaking to them.

I was once in that position fresh faced, from out of town and I knew only a few people in Wellington, but I bumped into an old friend at The Street City Church and I attended events and gathering which he knew were on and this got me so well Connected. Without him taking me under his wing I probably would have stopped attending The Street and maybe church altogether.

As an event organiser of some repute, I have decided to help people get connected by organising various sports, sports camp teams and holidays for both my own personal enjoyment and to get people from the church interacting with each other. These are even a way for people to bring their non-Christian friends along to get involved with in a less threatening way than church.

I grew up attending several church balls and even helping to organise one in Dunedin, but Wellington is a bigger place and there is less of the community vibe that you get in smaller centres, hence why I decided to organise an event which I not only wanted to attend, but want heaps of others to attend. In many aspects of life most people want to do something, but someone has to standup and actually organise it, otherwise it won't happen.

So last year Scotty Presents : Spring Ball 2012 saw 180 people (both singles and couples) dance the night away having a great time at The Boatshed, but I thought it would be good to have a slightly smaller event towards the start of the year so that new people to town could meet some people.

Get your tickets for Scotty Presents : Cocktail Party 2013 below via the Eventfinder website. Are you a single or a couple? Are you afraid of getting out of your clique and meeting new people? Everyone who attended the ball were very friendly and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is a Christian friendly event! Get your classy threads on and buy a ticket below!

Scotty Presents : Cocktail Party 2013

Since we had such a great time at Scotty Presents : Spring Ball 2012, may I introduce Scotty Presents : Cocktail Party 2013.

This is a Christian friendly event on Saturday April 6th 2013 from 8pm until midnight at Foxglove (Foxtail Champagne and Cocktail Bar).

Tickets cost $30 and will include a free drink, (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and some nibbles.

Standard of dress for the evening is less than formal, but not much less.  Cocktail dresses for the ladies and some kind of suit for the guys with or without tie.

Theme?  The theme is simply cocktail.

What form of entertainment do you want?  Since it is a cocktail party, there will be background music from local group Delphi Groove, but the main entertainment for the evening will be conversation, so come ready to meet new people.

Because the venue is smaller then there will be limited tickets available, I recommend buying early.  Once you have purchased your ticket, your name will go onto a list at the door.

There will be door sales, but CASH ONLY and they cost $40 each.  This event is open to both singles and couples.

Tickets can be purchased via email scottysspringball@gmail.com or on Eventfinder

Spring Ball 2012 has come and gone and we got over 170 people dressed in 1920's theme to The Boatshed at the Taranaki Street Wharf Area. We had great times with everyone getting amongst it and hitting the dancefloor learning some dance moves thanks to Geoff Hunter and his team and the Good Time Music Academy trio. There were drinks and food available all night too.

There were a great mix of people here including both singles and couples and it was awesome to see people meeting new people, having some great conversations and even exchanging numbers at times.

It was cool getting Ma Shot Pa to play for a couple of hours for us too. I was impressed by the general attitude of everyone there and it was great getting people from churches all over the world and country at this Christian friendly ball. I enjoyed seeing that were not afraid to get onto the dancefloor and have some fun.

The place looked great and everyone seemed to have a great time. Thanks for turning up and we will look to bring you something bigger and better next year (if that's possible!).

Kind regards
Scotty

Scotty Presents : Spring Ball 2012

There is only one week to go until Scotty Presents : Spring Ball 2012 . This means that things are getting to that critical stage where we need to finalise numbers for the evening in order to help with catering and planning. If you know people who are keen to come and haven't bought tickets then it would be great to get people paid up by Thursday this week to help things run smoothly. I am also offering a group discount if you buy five tickets, you get one free, so that is six tickets for the price of five. If you have a bigger group then email me and we can come to some arrangement. Remember that there are no physical tickets, but you will be required to bring some form of ID as there will be a guest list on the door.

We are also adding value to your ticket by offering you some formal dancing lessons, some great decorations and a photo booth. There will also be free supper and food and drinks available to be purchased using cash or eftpos. So what are you waiting for? Get signed up for Spring Ball 2012 and meet heaps of people from other churches.

Here is a voucher from Totally Frocked Costume Hire in Lower Hutt (at top of page) which enables you to discounted costume hire. If you want a printable version then email me at scottysspringball@gmail.com I also noticed when roaming the streets of Wellington that there are plenty of accessories available cheap to buy in cut price stores.

There are door sales tonight at The Boatshed from 8pm.
